The short answer: Semrush is a powerful general SEO toolkit, best for someone who will spend time every week on keyword research, content and links. Practice Radar is built only for dental practices. It reads your whole local market, ranks the few changes worth making, and on its Growth plan makes them once you approve.

We make Practice Radar, so weigh what we say about it accordingly. Semrush's prices and features below are from its pricing page and its Local toolkit pricing on 19 October 2026. Prices change, so check again before you buy.

What Semrush does well

Semrush is a full SEO workbench. On 19 October 2026 its SEO plan costs £113 a month, or £95.07 a month billed yearly, and covers five websites, 500 keywords tracked daily, keyword research, competitor analysis, position tracking, a site audit and AI search tracking. Higher plans add prompt tracking for AI assistants and more capacity. There is a free plan limited to 10 reports a day, and a seven-day trial of the paid plans.

For local work Semrush sells a separate Local toolkit, priced per location. Local Base, $30 a month, includes a Google Business Profile AI agent and the Map Rank Tracker. Local Pro, $60 a month, adds listing management across 70+ directories, review management with AI-assisted replies, and Google Business Profile optimisation.

If someone at your practice wants to research keywords, plan content and chase links every week, there is little Semrush cannot show them.

Where Practice Radar is different

Most practice owners do not want a workbench. They want to know who is winning the patients near them, what to do about it, and someone to do it. That is what Practice Radar is built for.

  • It reads your town, not a keyword list. Every practice competing for your patients, sized by its share of local search, with the few changes most worth making each month.
  • It makes the changes. Connect a WordPress, Webflow or Wix site and approved changes to titles, descriptions, local pages and structured data go live, checked before and after. Approved Google Ads negatives and review replies are applied for you.
  • It speaks dentistry. Treatment searches, NHS and private, as patients type them, and every nearby practice as the NHS and CQC record it.

On our own practice in Cheshire, new private patients went from 8 a month before we started in June 2026 to 19 a month since, from the practice's own records. The full case study sets out what changed and what we can and cannot claim from it.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose Semrush if you, or someone you employ, will do hands-on SEO every week, or you need deep keyword and backlink data across many websites.
  • Choose Practice Radar if you run a dental practice and want your local market read for you and the changes made, without learning an SEO toolkit or hiring an agency.
  • Use both if you already have a marketer using Semrush. Practice Radar gives the owner an independent read of the local market.

See the plans, or run the free audit to see where your practice stands before you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Is Semrush worth it for a dental practice?

Only if someone will use it every week. It is one of the strongest general SEO tools, but it is built for marketers rather than practice owners, and it shows you the fixes rather than making them on your website.

How much does Semrush cost compared with Practice Radar?

Does Semrush do local SEO for dentists?

Yes, through its Local toolkit, which tracks map rankings, manages listings across 70+ directories on Local Pro and helps with review replies. It is built for any local business rather than dental practices specifically.

Which one makes changes for me?

Practice Radar's Growth plan applies the changes you approve to your website, Google listing, directory listings and Google Ads. Semrush's Local toolkit includes an AI agent for your Google Business Profile and AI-assisted review replies; changes to your own website pages are yours to make.
